Minutes of 23rd. Annual General Meeting.
The Chairman pointed out that these had been published within the current issued of the Society Magazine. On the subsequent proposal by Roger Pink, seconded by Phil Smith and approved by members present were accepted as a correct record and signed by the Chairman.

Matters Arising.    None.

Hon. Secretary. An expression of appreciation was made as to the support, at meetings, provided by a regular number of members, as had been the help and assistance given by the Society Committee.  Overall it had been a relatively quiet season without too many contentious issues. The amount of paper work (flowing inwards) becomes a bit of a bore in relation to society activities !

Hon. Treasurer. Copies of Balance Sheet had been circulated around members present. A seasonal trading loss of some £24.63 pence. We had approved the purchase of a stock of Sutton Society Ties, a number of which had been presented to guest speakers, as previously agreed.

There had been an increase in training costs, but these had been offset by income from the overall number of trainees attending courses throughout the season. A decrease in actual membership had resulted in a loss of income. An increase in the cost of 'entertaining' on the  'social' evenings was evident, mainly caused by the lack of 'raffle' prizes being made available at the Quiz event (February evening). As at present we have a paid-up membership of 42, so far, for the season 99/00, with  1 associate member. In reply to an enquiry it was confirmed that a 'fund' in respect of the Society's 'Silver Anniversary' had not been set up.

Training Officer(s) Report. It has been a busy year for your training Officers team. Two 'courses' have been completed at Sutton and one at Wimbledon. John and myself have found it quite demanding at times but the end result more than makes up for that, and we are delighted by the approach to refereeing that the candidates have shown. We continue to maintain a high 'pass' rate in the examinations.

On the subject of examinations, the format is to be changed to increase the 'weighting' of questioning of, principally, Law. 12, together with further revisions in some of the other laws. The nett effect will be a tougher examination in some areas with a corresponding decrease in the importance in others (e.g. Laws 1 to 4). The F.A. will complete this revision and propose to bring in the new examination format within the next year.

The venue for our Courses remains the same at Cheam High School (Chatsworth Road), and we thank them for their every assistance. We do enjoy the facilities, although the chairs are a bit small for the trainees! We look forward to continuing in the training at Sutton Society and welcome and prospective trainees on the courses.
Magazine Editor - Report. As ever the number of regular 'correspondents' was very limited throughout the season making the job of producing a worthwhile monthly magazine difficult.  The support of a small number of contributors month by month was greatly appreciated.  The continued support of advertisers was of mutual benefit.

Supplies Officer - Report. A detailed account of purchases and sales of equipment was circulated for member information, from which it could be ascertained that support had been provided by membership in the use of facilities of purchasing equipment throughout the year.  The sales of 'The Football Referee' publication had been well supported, each month.
