s we are now at the tail end of the season the only official correspondence I have received this month has been the law changes for next season. As you will have received your own personal copy with your new registration number for next season I will make no comment on them.
We yet again have failed to support the county RA by not entering a team in the County RA 6 a side competition.
Our next meeting is on the 3rd Wednesday of May, the 17th and not the second as is normal practice. This gives the treasurer a little more time to prepare the accounts for the AGM.
By the time you read this we will have held a committee meeting and we will know how many of the committee will be willing to stand again. The position of one of our RA Delegates will definitely be up for grabs, as Anthony Moore will be of to Manchester University.
RA Delegates are important to the society as they take any concerns we raise, and are unable to resolve ourselves, to the bimonthly meetings at Cobham FC for onward consideration by the footballing authorities. As part of the two way process they bring news and information back to the society. The meetings at Cobham are friendly and informal and all new delegates are made welcome. This is an opportunity for a member to join the committee in a role that is not to demanding of time and will broaden the view of the member into how the RA works.
We hear from Epsom Society that they might have to close their society down and so preliminary discussions will take place at our committee meeting concerning a possible merger of the two societies. If this matter is progressed it may become necessary to hold an EGM ahead of the AGM on the 17th. Any such change in the way we are organised automatically has to be approved by the membership.
We will also be examining a proposal that our rules should be amended to cater for the future possibility of the closure of our society, and at such a time, how our money and property be allocated. I have passed on the document to the editor who will publish it in the magazine if space allows.
The meeting on the 17th could well be an historical and important occasion for this society - please make every effort to attend. We value the contribution that you could make.
