SCRA discussion papers before The SCFA Referees' Committee
The County RA has asked the SCFA Referees' Committee to consider * removing the requirement for referees under 16 and those over 65 to pay an annual affiliation fee (form still to be submitted);
* increasing the Attendance Allowance for referees at Disciplinary Hearings; * re-instating the facility for referees to charge for public transport costs at Disciplinary Hearings (some match officials don't drive) * the possibility of providing extra feedback to candidates at the end of the promotion 'year'
"OUCH!!"
At a recent Kingston meeting, guest speaker Alan Robinson was talking about how dangerous it is to allow jewellery to be worn by players. Alan mentioned a number of problems that have arisen recently involving jewellery. A more common thing to find nowadays is the pierced eyebrow. Under NO circumstances should the player be allowed to play as he will be a danger both to himself and others. Alan also mentioned about a recent case in the Midlands where a player played with a pierced nipple (unknown to the referee). During the game, an opponent grabbed his shirt and, in doing so, tore out the ring with somewhat damaging consequences! The referee would not reasonably have known and has no liability but just something of which to be aware!!!
