Hon. Secretary - Report/correspondence. Unfortunately we were unable to produce a five-aside team to represent Sutton Referees; Brian Fish has been informed.
Surrey County Referees Association, to scrap the annual Affiliation Fee for those under 16 years and those over 65 years. Two years ago Dorset successfully gained the agreement of the FA to dispense with the annual re-registration fee of £7.00 to those under 16 and those over 65. This agreement is minuted by the FA. Last season Middlesex FA agreed to follow Dorset's lead. Both the County FA and this Association wish to retain referees. This is one way of doing so. We need to retain those over 65 to act as mentors, assessors and give younger referees support. The under 16s have little money and we need to invest for the future which has got to be in the best interests of the clubs. Consideration is given to increasing the referees Attendance Allowance at Disciplinary Hearings to either £10.00 plus mileage at the current SCFA rate; or a set fee of £15.00 Some 17 years ago the going rate was £2.50 to cover the cost of a 'quick snack'. Three years ago this was raised to £3.50. Unfortunately £3.50 does not cover the price of a "Big Mack" meal and drink equivalent. Middlesex FA has just raised its sum to £10.00 and Bedfordshire is in the process of doing so.
