Training Officers - Report. New class starts on Monday January 17th 2000. There was a very lengthy SCRATOC meeting held last night (11th January). I will write a report, which will be printed in next month's issue of Touchiness. I.S.T. to be held on the 13th January, at Kings College Old Boys Sports Ground Motspur Park; 7.00 start. The subject being discussed will be "Effective communication in match play."
R.A. Delegate - Report. No news as yet, next meeting for R.A. Delegates will be held on the 31st of January. In view of the large amount of referees not invited to the forthcoming I.S.T. session John Casey asked Peter Fenn if this matter could be discussed at the meeting.
Supplies Officer - Report. Made enquiries about the sweatshirts with badges, they will cost about £29.00 but could take up to a month to do.
Magazine Editor - Report. Pleased with the amount of e-mail he has received, this saves a lot of time by not having to re-type articles. Borrowed a couple of articles this month from other magazines, because they were very good. Thanked everyone for getting copy to him before the Christmas deadline. Reminded everyone who intends to e-mail him not to put carriage returns on every line, because he then has to go through the whole lot and remove them.
Other Business. John Kasey received a phone call from Poole, he was pleased that our official web-site is being used. Needs a 4th Official for the Wimbledon V Southampton next Wednesday 19th January. Also a 4th Official for the Sutton Utd. V Southport on the 29th January. Will write to the Conference Secretary to inform him of the difficulty he has in finding reserve officials for Sutton Utd. Games.
Kevin Winzer commented on the appalling refereeing during the World Club Tournament. The general opinion among members present was that it was truly awful.
Phil Smith brought up the subject of throw-ins he wanted to clarify a few points.
John Martin reminded everyone of next months quiz night and could they possibly turn up at 7.15 for a prompt 7.30pm start.
After an interval of 10 minutes or so John Martin gave the floor to Joe Kane. The topic for the evening was first aid. Joe talked about illnesses and injuries that can occur during a football match, and how you as a referee or bystander can help. The list of ailments included asthma, diabetes, head injuries; limb and spinal injuries.
