Secretary's notes I've just had, perhaps, one of the busiest months of my life - but not doing much RA stuff!
The only correspondence I have had with the RA and County office has been concerning individual enquiries I have made on behalf of members, and of course, the one piece that we have all had. Yes, it's that time of the year again when we must renew our registrations with the county. Get it done early - it's so easy to place it to one side and forget. Late applications (after 15th May) will cost you an extra fiver - that about a 72% increase on the regular fee of £7. Worse than paying the extra money you could well miss being included in the handbook and then you are a refereeing nobody for the next season. Have you met a single manager who can lay his hands on an amendment sheet? I haven't.
This Wednesday As well as the now usual football talk and discussions on whatever is raised we have a much traveled society member who will, for about twenty minutes, relate his experiences of refereeing in Germany. Ron Leow has been refereeing for many years and has personal hands on experience of racing the German players in Berlin for the best place in the showers!
Come along and just listen, or join in - we are interested in your opinions, problems, questions or answers, it's your society - make the most of it.
The Eve of Cup Final dinner will be at the Morden Hall Beefeater on Friday 19th May 7.30pm for 8pm (or thereabouts). If you would like to join us there for a convivial evening please speak to me either at the next meeting or before the end of the month and book a place.
Just in: The annual 6 a side will take place at Fetcham Park United, Randalls Road, Leatherhead on Sunday 21st May 1.15 for 1.45 start. The competition will be hosted by Dorking society. If you fancy kicking a ball about we could perhaps put in 2 teams this year, a young one and an old one. Think about it and knock me over with your enthusiasm to be part of either the young or old the teams. If you can't make the meeting you can give me a call and take your first steps towards being part of that winning team!
Confucius he say;
How many times have you come of the field absolutely cream crackered after a match this season? I'm not talking about having played football, I mean after refereeing a match. It's on these occasions when you know you have put in the required effort and given your best to the players. This should be a regular state - shouldn't it?
