This is the last time I will be writing the secretaries notes and as I do this I am hoping that next season I will still be able to make the odd contribution to the society magazine or news sheet. Will we have a society at Sutton next year? I have to say as I write this I am very doubtful indeed.
I have been banging on now since January when I finally decided that I will stand down at the end of this season - a society cannot function without a secretary so this AGM on Wednesday 9th May could well be the last meeting of this society.
Cup Final On Saturday 21st April a letter dropped onto my mat containing the application form for 2-Cup Final tickets. The tickets are at a face value of £20 each with a handling charge of £0.75p for each. I have applied for them both and we will hold a draw for them, which will be open to all members of this society who attend the AGM on 9th May.
Society Dinner We will be holding our annual eve of Cup Final Dinner a week early this year on Friday 4th May. As has been the case for recent years we will be eating at the Morden Hall Beefeater. If you would like to join me there please call me before 30th April and I will add you to the booking.
Peter Watson Peter will be presented with his Long and Meritorious Service award at the meeting by Alan Robinson. This is a special award and recognizes the years of hard work and commitment that Peter has given to the Referees Association and to the Sutton & District Referees Society in particular. If you can make the time to join us show your appreciation of Peter's service we would love to see you.

Park Snippet On a recent Sunday morning game one of the teams provided a Rastafarian gentleman to run the line for them. He approached me and said 'Good morning sir, I will do my best to please you - I enjoy this every Sunday'. I was, to say the least gob-smacked!
He did a reasonable job in the first half being just a little over enthusiastic with the off sides.
At the start of the second half I looked for him and he was nowhere to be seen. As we were trying to locate another flag and another volunteer my Rastafarian assistant appeared walking casually towards us chomping on a large burger. He gave me a great big smile and said that all the running made him hungry. The burger smelt delicious but it successfully stopped him running for the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half.
