Sutton was one of only four societies in the County who entered a team in to the County Quiz in November, but it was a real struggle to get four volunteers to agree to make the journey to Salfords to represent us. It appears that other societies have just has many, if not even more problems as we do in kicking the membership into action and support of their societies. Who knows now if the County Quiz has any future at all?
I have had a quiet month on the correspondence front and have no new RA information to pass on to you.
I have had sight of an interesting draft document called the WONFAS project, which has the aim of getting all league systems computerised and working to the same or, at least, very similar systems. The FA is the sponsor of the project, and apparently will pay for the relevant software to make it become a reality.
I am making enquiries of the author of the WONFAS report to find out just what WONFAS stands for (I can work out the FA bit but the rest leaves me confused)
If this gets the go ahead it will improve all our lives. As league systems become more streamlined it will make the passing of information much better and more timely and accurate. Leagues will be able to pass information between themselves with simplicity, and keep better track of badly run clubs and troublesome players. 1984 is nearly here!
I hope that some of you will turn out for the Christmas social and enjoy the food on offer. The last couple of years we have been guilty of making young Daniel Hyams rather ill as he tried to scoff all the leftovers - there will be plenty of food which is all paid for with your money - so come and eat it. Happy Christmas and lets hope for a drier New Year.
John Brown - Hon Secretary.
