Any Other Business.
No other business was raised and a short break took place after which we discussed the future of the society as we are still without any volunteers to cover the post of Secretary and Magazine Editor. Both posts are crucial to the successful running of a society and the society simply will not function if we cannot identify a new secretary.

We remind members again that the secretary's post is vital as he / she acts as the focal point for all correspondence from within and outside the immediate society. It is not a daunting or a very time consuming role once a general grip of the comings and goings are understood. The secretary does not need to be a class one referee - some of the best secretaries have been class threes. Most of everything that is required to be done can be delegated to other committee members. The current secretary is standing down at the end of this season and will not be accepting the role again. He will be available to supply help and advice to the new secretary as and when required by that secretary.

The job of the magazine editor is ideal for any member who has access to a PC and email. Once you have established your format you then cut and paste information as required. The major investment in time is the photocopying and posting out of the magazines each month. A couple of evenings given to this at the beginning of each month should suffice. An informative magazine - or even just a news sheet is a vital tool of any successful society. Non PC literate people can and in some societies do produce the magazine and often with great success as there are always more ways than one to make an ommelette.

One last point, and not related to any of the above, is that your secretary will not be at next months meeting as he will be away on a pre arranged golfing holiday. I will be back for the May AGM.

Meeting closed at 21.45 hrs.
