April 2001

Secretary's Notes

I will not be at the meeting in April, as I will be playing golf in Bournemouth with 19 other guys in a competition that was arranged over a year ago. My apologies on this absence but I will be back for the AGM on 9th May.  If you wish to send in apologies this month chose another member to send them to!

At the AGM in May Alan Robinson will be with us, along with Ray Mallory. Alan will be presenting the Long and Meritorious Service award to Peter Watson. It would be great to see a large turn out of the membership to honour the work and commitment that Peter has given freely to this society over the years.

Thankfully I have not had any correspondence this month other than the delegates notes and that will be dealt with by our delegates.

I was asked at the last meeting to chase up on the FA Cup tickets and find out why we had not received our allocation this year. I have to apologise to anyone who thought they might like the chance of going to the New Millennium Stadium in Cardiff but I have not done this. I simply forgot all about it; these days I put RA matters out of my mind between meetings - you guys and girls badly need a new secretary.

I predict that Liverpool beat Spurs on 12
th May.

We usually have an eve of Cup Final dinner each season and I see no reason why this season should be different except that on the 11
th May I will be on route to Spain for a much needed break. I therefor suggest that we have this annual dinner the Friday previous to next months meeting - 4th May. Those of you who are interested in this annual nosh please give your names to John Martin and I will then go ahead and book a table, probably at the Morden Hall Beefeater.

Sorry again that I will not be present at this months meeting - see you all in May.

John Brown
